“I was working on a very complicated natural gas well plugging project and we encountered an obstruction in the wellbore that stopped our crew’s rig work dead in its tracks. Due to this well having no reliable records, recorded history, or field notes, this project was a challenge. Not sure what to do, we began running our own rig and fishing tools into the ID of the 2-7/8” tubing until we hit a blockage a couple hundred feet down.
I called Eric from Insight Camera Services and his team brought a nano camera that fit inside the tubing ID, which was a total game-changer. The camera took the frustration and guesswork out of my team running blindly inside well tubing from 1943. Insight was able to see the blockage, a corroded tubing followed by almost completely eroded 8” casing pipe. All that remained were collars and shards of steel tubing and casing that had fallen downhole and bunched together. This was something I had never seen before, but it was clearly the issue.
I have had Insight return to this project and others for inspections, which are all recorded for viewing whenever we need them. Over the course of this project, Eric and his crew helped greatly with their camera, knowledge, and experience.
